O'Fallon Torpedoes Swim Team

We convinced Kathryn that she wanted to be on swim team this year.  It took some discussion, but she ultimately decided that she would try it.  Here she is at her first practice.

This is at her first swim meet.  Notice the look on her face.  That about sums up her feelings that first night.  She cried for about 20 minutes, saying she didn't want to do it.  But after her first race, she was feeling better.  She just needed to figure out the bullpen (how they line up for races) and swim a race to see what it was all about.

Her Daddy is her biggest supporter.  He loves to watch her swim and give her pep talks.

Here she is at another swim meet.  She is holding her time card that she has to carry with her through the bull pen and give to the timer before each race.

At this swim meet, we followed the advice of some veteran swimmers and wrote her races down on her arm.

This was at All-County, her final swim meet, on July 28th.

In the end, we are very glad that she participated in swim team this year.  It is a big time commitment for the whole family (night practices, 6 hour swim meets on Monday nights!).  Despite that, we are happy that she learned to swim better, got great exercise, practiced overcoming fear of new things, and learned to push herself past discomfort.

The rest of June

(Whew!  Time has flown by.  It is now August and I am playing catch up!  Having a new baby in the house always requires a significant adjustment and updating these pictures has fallen pretty far down on my list.  Instead I am feeding kids, changing diapers, cleaning messes, and chasing my own tail!)

  3 weeks old

Mike gave Tyler his name and his blessing on June 10th.

5 weeks old -The girls have been very helpful!

The Oswalds came to visit us and meet Tyler.

Aunt DeeDee and Liam couldn't keep their hands off of him!

Nonnie came with them from Colorado.

All 7 of Nonnie's grandchildren!

Reagan (2), Madeline (16), Kathryn (7), Liam (12), Tyler (0), Sydney (5), Emma (9)

First Week of June 2012

We visited a new park, Towne Park.

Tiny baby toes.

We went to the library to play and check out books.  (We had just come from the pediatrician's office to have him weighed on June 7th.  He had gained 13 ounces in the past week and weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz.!)

Lunch and dessert at ChickFilA!

Summer Fun

Hanging out on the patio.

Sydney lost her second tooth!

Kathryn is tall enough to go down the slide!  Wahoo!  She hasn't actually had the chance yet, but she's excited.  She is on the O'Fallon Torpedos swim team this summer.

About 2 inches to go!

The girls are very excited about the summer reading program at our local library.  I have enjoyed reading books to them and hearing them read books to me.

Funny Faces

He can make some pretty cute faces and some not-so-cute.  The last one is my favorite!

Awkward Family Photos

I didn't post the awkward ones, but here are the good ones from our attempt at taking family pictures. These were taken on May 29th when Tyler was 13 days old.

Tyler's First Week

Sleeping with Dad

Sleeping in Mom and Dad's bed.

Playing in the sprinkler.

Rolling her big, cute, chocolate-y brown eyes.

First bath!  He enjoyed the warm water, but hollered when we were transferring him to his towel.  During his second bath, he peed a little fountain and the girls thought it was super funny!
