The Grandmas Visit

Nonnie and Grandma Karen came to meet Tyler and help us out.  We were able to do some fun things while they were here. 

We took Tyler in for his first pediatrician's visit on Monday, May 21st when he was 5 days old.  He was down to 5 lbs. 2 oz.!  Dr. Myer asked that we come back on May 24th to weigh him again, and at that appointment he was 5 lbs. 3.5 oz.  They were happy with his weight gain and asked us to come back weekly until he reached his birth weight. 

We went to the O'Fallon Public Works Fair.  Grandma Karen, Sydney, and Mike walked around and looked at all the big trucks and work equipment and the rest of us sat in the shade.

Mike taught Sydney to ride a two-wheeler!  We took her up to the parking lot at TR Hughes ballpark so she would have a large, relatively flat, open place to ride.  He worked with her for about an hour before the got the hang of it.  

 

The girls got up early to say goodbye to Grandma before she drove back home to Texas.

 

Tyler's First Days Home

It is always kind of weird to bring a new baby home.  Even though he's #4, it still takes some time to get used to having a new little soul in our home.


 
May 18th was the girls last day of school and we waited for them on the front porch to celebrate the last day of school and welcome them to summer!

 

Reagan sure loves her Baby Tyler.  She loves to rub his head and is always asking, "my hold it?".

Heading Home with Tyler Jacob

We, as usual, waited until the last minute to name our baby.  But, unlike usual, I actually left the hospital early!  I usually like to stay as long as I can, but this time I was just really ready to come home.  We came home on Thursday night at 6:30pm.  It was really nice to come home and see my girls!  Friday was their last day of school so I wanted to be home to send them off.

The girls stayed with our friends, the Blakemore's, the night we went to the hospital.  They came up to meet their brother around 8:30am, 4 1/2 hours after he was born! 

Kathryn was reserved and quiet.  She was very excited to see him, but seemed concerned about me being in the hospital and the newness of the whole situation. 

Sydney was super excited to touch him and hold him and kiss him. 

Reagan seemed to realize that she might not be the center of attention anymore.  She was excited to see him, but the whole environment seemed to make her uncomfortable and close to making her little face pout.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Welcome Baby Boy Morrison!

We arrived at the hospital at 8pm on Tuesday night.  (During dinner I received a phone call asking if I was going to show up for my induction scheduled at 6pm.  I don't know where the miscommunication occurred, but I was told 8pm!)  We got checked in and my IV was started.  They had to stick me twice and that was one of the most painful parts!  They started Pitocin around 10pm and I received my epidural around 1am.  After that my contractions started coming strong and regular.  Baby's heartrate was really decreasing during each contraction, but would come back very quickly, so the nurses weren't concerned.  I was checked by a nurse at 3:20am and I was at a 5 (maybe a 6).  About 5-10 minutes after she left the room, I really felt him move down and started to feel a lot of pressure.  I called her and said, "I know you just checked me, but would you come back and check me again?"  She came right in and checked me and I was at a 10 and she looked a little panicked!  I spent the next 15 minutes trying not to push and waiting for Dr. Young!  We also asked our friend Dr. Fowler (who delivered Sydney & Reagan) to be there, so we were waiting on her too.  They got there as fast as they could and he was born at 3:53 am on May 16th,  after 1 push!  He scored 9 of 9 on his Apgar, weighed 5 lbs. 12.8oz, and was 18" long.

Last Moments of Pregnancy

My OB, Dr. Young, said he would induce me anytime after my 39th week, so I chose to be induced on Tuesday, May 15th, to deliver on the first day of my 39th week, May 16th.

I'll no longer be able to refer to my children as "the girls"!
 

 

 

 

Sydney lost her first tooth!

Sydney's front bottom teeth have been a little loose for a long time.  On Sunday night, one of them suddenly became super loose!  She was really excited and was ready for it to come out.  She worked on it really good for about 30 minutes.

And it's out!  Kathryn has lost 6 and now Sydney has lost 1!  She was really excited to go to school on Monday and tell her class.  The tooth fairy brought her $2!

 

Dirty Girl

We are in the process of landscaping our backyard and had 8 yards of top soil delivered on our driveway.  The girls spent an entire afternoon playing king of the dirt hill and making mud out of our neighbors sprinkler runoff.  Sydney ran to the backyard and said that Reagan was sad and needed us.  We came out front to find her like this:
 
She didn't want to move or unclench her sweet little hands.  Surprisingly, her clothes came clean and there was only a small ring around the bathtub when she got out! 

O'Fallon Founders Day - May 5th

We attended O'Fallon's Founders Day on Saturday.  The girls got to milk a fake cow, walk on stilts, play tic-tac-toe, and wash a sock on a washboard!  Of all those things, I think they were looking forward to washing the sock the most!  They remembered having fun doing it last year.  We enjoyed a snow cone in the shade and then the girls got to pick small prizes for participating in the activities.
